COMMERCIAL ITEMS DESCRIPTION
FILTER ELEMENT, INTAKE AIR CLEANSER
DRY TYPE
This Commercial Item Description replaces the Military Specification MIL-F-46736(AT).
SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description covers air cleaner elements of the dry type for single stage air cleaners from 40 cubic feet per minute (cfm) to 1,000 (CFM) rated air flow.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
All testing to verify performance should be in accordance with SAE J726.
Flame Resistance. The air cleaner element shall not continue to burn or smolder when flame is removed.
Efficiency. The air cleaner element shall have an efficiency of not less than 99.5 percent as rated therein.
Dust Capacity. Coarse dust capacity of the element shall permit operation for a period of four hours without exceeding a restriction equal to 20 inches of water.
Restriction After Cleaning. After the element has been subjected to the dust capacity test and after subsequent cleaning, the increase in air flow restriction shall not exceed the equivalent of 1 inch of water, compared to the initial value obtained at rated air flow.
